Train Your Brain
There are lies we believe that derail us from who God wants us to be.
Satan is the father of lies. He not only wants us to believe lies but wants to defeat our Christian lives with those lies so that we are of no good to anyone, including ourselves. What are some of these lies?
- I’m worthless—God can’t use me.
- I can’t help how I am.
- God doesn’t want me to enjoy my life.
- Nobody else understands what I’m going through.
- Nobody appreciates me.
- Nobody works as hard as I do.
- I’m sick because God is judging me.
- I have to be productive for God to accept me.
- My affliction is going to last forever.
How do we train our brain? We counter lies with truth. “If ye continue in my Word … ye shall know the truth and the truth will make you free.” [John 8:31-32]
Truths to consider: We are made righteous, not in ourselves, but through the blood of Christ. God accepts me for who I am through Him. Jesus, Who suffered for us, understands our suffering.
“Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness.” [Romans 3:25]
“Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.” [Romans 6:18]
“Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.” [Psalm 30:5]
“But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.” [1 Peter 4:13]
“Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us.” [Titus 3:5]
Train your brain by writing down a lie you believe on a 3 X 5 card, and then by countering it with a truth from God’s Word. As your one card grows into a stack, you can call them truth cards.
This life will not last forever—for followers of Christ, it will end well! Have a blessed day on purpose.
