Our One Unique God

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me. John 14:6

Because of the activity of Isis, the religion of Islam is a major subject in the news every day. Christianity proposes the true God who is far different from the Allah of Islam.

Have you ever stopped to consider how unique Christianity is from Islam and all other religions? Jesus said, “I AM.” This verb is emphatic; it excludes all others. His statement declaring Himself “the way”, points in two directions.

  1. He is the way from God to man in the incarnation.
  2. He is the way from man to God in salvation and communication (Prayer).

“The truth” focuses on one of John’s favorite themes. Jesus is not only the Creator and sustainer of physical life; He is key to eternal life.

  • Christianity alone provides for us a Savior. No other religions speaks of a Savior. Islam denies the need of salvation or a savior. You only have to repeat, “There is no god but Allah!” Mohammed stated that he is the messenger of God but never the Savior of man.
  • Christianity alone speaks of the incarnation — God becoming a man.
  • Jesus Christ is the only sinless person to have lived on this earth. No other religion that claims to have a sinless head.
  • Christianity alone has a living God (Hebrews 9:14; 10:31). Jesus Christ is the only Person ever resurrected from the dead and ascended into glory.
  • Christianity alone provides everlasting life and forgiveness of sins based on a free gift of grace. Jesus did for us what we could not do on our own in paying the penalty for our sin (John 3:16; Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:8-9; Titus 2:11).

No one can get to heaven by doing good works. It is a free gift of God’s love, mercy and grace. To reject God’s gift of salvation is to reject His grace. It is the result of His grace that we have full assurance of everlasting life in Heaven. No other religion provides mankind with assurance. Jesus Christ paid the full price for our redemption. If you ask the followers of all other gods and religions if they know for certain they are going to heaven when they die, the only positive answer they can give is, “I hope so!” All other religions are man-oriented leading to a hopeless end. Christianity is God-oriented leading to an endless hope.

God’s love for us is not based on how good we might be, but according to Who He is. Praise God today for the glorious gift of His salvation and for the confidence we have of everlasting life. Be sensitive to His leading for opportunities to share this great gift with others.
