A Social Credit System Arrives in Canada – Common Sense

Justin Trudeau just created a caste of economic untouchables. Can we stop this dystopian policy from taking hold in America?

I’m not sure Trudeau required much “egging on” as the article suggests. He is one of the most untrustworthy politicians I’ve ever seen.

One thing American readers should note (but still be wary of) is that a major difference between Canada and the USA is that in America you do have constitutional rights. We have nothing of the kind in Canada. Our “Charter of Rights and Freedoms” gives lip service to rights but is only a list of freedoms. Freedoms are things granted to you from the top down, they can be taken away. Rights are something you have by right, as a human being. They can be violated, but not taken away.

Our Charter begins with clause 1, which says, in effect, that the government can suspend the freedoms in an emergency. The government gets to define the emergency.

That is why lawsuits about closing churches during Covid worked in the USA but did not in Canada. Our courts, even though some were sympathetic to the churches, note the reality that our governments get to define emergencies and can suspend our freedoms whenever emergencies exist.

While the USA has a better system, with constitutional rights, the pressure is on to attack, erode, or remove the rights. So Americans always need vigilance. But of course our readers already know that.
