God is Laughing

Why do the nations rage,

And the people plot a vain thing?

The kings of the earth set themselves,

And the rulers take counsel together,

Against the Lord and against His Anointed, saying,

“Let us break Their bonds in pieces

And cast away Their cords from us.”

He who sits in the heavens shall laugh;

The Lord shall hold them in derision. (Psalm 2:1-4)

God is not worried. You should not worry either.

Too many Christians today are losing sleep over what they are watching on the news and reading on the web.  The only thing we need to worry about is doing the right thing before God on a daily basis.  Our concern ought to be our own obedience, not the threat of the powers of wickedness that surround us.

There is an organized system of rebellion against God functioning in the world.  It might not be so finely tuned on the human side, but it is in the unseen world. Consider the abortion issue. Why would killing the unborn be a satanic agenda?  It’s not that Satan hates babies.  Satan hates God.  Life belongs to God.  To take another human life is an offense against God—it is an expression of rebellion against Him. Satan delights in people rebelling against their Creator. The lives of the unborn are civilian casualties in this war.

Likewise, lying, injustice, destruction of the family, the destruction of marriage, gender confusion, violence, and more all represent rebellion against the Creator and a deranged hatred of God.

The vast satanic conspiracy will never ultimately succeed in its pursuit.  No cadre of politicians, corporate leaders, judges, bureaucrats, or media moguls will successfully throw off the constraints of the Creator. It’s an empty dream.

Sin is not funny, but God meets the delusion of the rebels with the laughter of derision.

Imagine the 5-6 year-old pee wee football team practicing at your local park–you know, the little guys that wear the helmets that are as big as the rest of their bodies!  Pit the little guys against an NFL team in a serious game. It’s silly to consider. The only reason the analogy fails is because the pee wees compare infinitely more favorably to the NFL team than any group of human rebels might against the Ancient of Days. The all-powerful, all-wise, all-knowing God of the universe has no crack in His armor or flaw in his person that could ever allow His defeat or even His will to be stymied. This is not a Hollywood movie. The rebels continue to exist only because God has not chosen to judge yet.

When we allow ourselves to be worried or stressed over current events we have forgotten how big our God really is.

May God bless those that honor Him, and may He continue to frustrate the plans of the wicked.  I just need to make sure I am among the former, and not the latter.
