Is Your Church Worship More Pagan Than Christian?

There is a great misunderstanding of the purpose of music in Christian worship. Many Christians tend to grant music a sacramental power which Scripture never bestows upon it.

    Don,
Thank you for posting this insightful article. I fear too much of current ‘worship’ is geared toward emotional excitement rather than adoration of the Creator and Gratefulness for His Mercy granted through the death and resurrection of His Son and Savior.

It is a caution for us on the more conservative spectrum as well. I am preaching in Acts, just beginning Acts 15 tomorrow. The year is about AD 49, and already, less than 20 years after Pentecost, professing Christians are trying to turn faith into works. We can do the same thing with music, the subtle shift from faith to works, from ordinance to sacrament, is not far away for any of us.

BTW, I got the link from a friend who is on a much less conservative trajectory than me, shall we say, but he is a sober believer who wants to please the Lord nonetheless. We disagree a LOT about music, but I thought it significant that he linked this.
