Bob Jones University announces Joshua Crockett as its new President
Congratulations to Bob Jones University and to Joshua Crockett on his being named as the institution’s sixth president.
Serving as the President of any institution of higher learning in these tumultuous times is an endeavor that requires wisdom, fortitude, humility, faithfulness to the scriptures, and the dynamic blessing of God. All those character qualities have been evident in Joshua Crockett’s life and ministry.
We pray for God’s continued blessing on him and Bob Jones University as he takes the reigns of this important and influential institution. Dr. Crockett’s background in pastoral ministry, missions leadership, and academic accomplishment should serve him well in preparation for the tasks he now faces. God has wonderfully used BJU for almost 100 years to advance the cause of faithful Christianity worldwide. We pray that God will continue to bless Bob Jones University under Dr. Crockett’s leadership in preparing young people to take the eternal, unchanging gospel of Jesus Christ to an ever-changing world.

I believe the Board was looking for someone who would not be a lighting rod or polarizing figure. Crockett, imo, fits that role. I don’t see Crockett being abrupt at all. Hard lurches probably are not healthy for any organization of BJU’s size. A gentler approach is what I feel Crockett will bring to the office. I’m hopeful the university will flourish for the cause of Christ going forward.
