Jerry Sandusky’s Pastor Comments on Case in Sunday Sermon (FULL TRANSCRIPT)

FIRST-PERSON: A stunning reminder: the darkness lives in me

Southern Baptist Dave Miller offers an appropriate warning:

Overconfidence, especially confidence in my own character and ability, is a serious problem. As long as I live in this world, as long as I still await the consummation of my salvation, the darkness lives in me. I need to fight it. I need to walk in Christ’s power and make wise choices and draw near to God and resist the devil and be filled with the Spirit and … well, you know what I’m getting at.

Is the U.S. a land of liberty or equality?

A shocking quote starts this one off:

“If you asked my true religion, I would not answer anything practiced in a church, synagogue or mosque. My real religion is America, and I feel privileged that, among the world’s 7 billion people, I am one of the roughly 300 million lucky enough to be an American. This transcends mere patriotism.”

Wow.

Andy Griffith was real even if ‘Mayberry’ never existed

Brad Hirschfield says that Andy Griffith created ‘aspirational television’, as opposed to ‘reality’ TV. He might suggest that Andy’s ‘aspirational’ TV surpasses ‘reality’ TV by a ‘country mile’, judging from his piece. Though this is likely true, and though this editor has watched and enjoyed many an ‘Andy Griffith’ evening, the show doesn’t come close to qualifying as ‘spiritual television’.

Psalm 130:7 Let Israel hope in the LORD: for with the LORD there is mercy, and with him is plenteous redemption.
